MAINTENANCE HANDBOOK NOW ONLINE
The Texas Historical Commission commissioned McCoy Collaborative to create an interactive handbook on maintenance for the Texas Historic Courthouse Preservation Program as part of its stewardship effort. Eventually, the full handbook will be available as pages on the Commission’s website, but it can be downloaded now in interactive PDF form. This Handbook is not only useful for historic courthouses, but for any traditional building constructed of masonry, with wood or metal windows, flat, metal, slate or shingle roofs. The Handbook covers site work, monuments, exterior and interior materials, and housekeeping. The Historic Courthouse Maintenance Manual offers rationale for performing maintenance as well as technical guidance, forms for assessing and tracking maintenance with checklists and links to resources on the subject. Proper maintenance is the single most important action associated with preserving historic structures. Download the full document here: www.thc.texas.gov
