NANCY MCCOY HONORED WITH DOROTHY SAVAGE AWARD

Nancy McCoy, FAIA, FAPT, founding principal of McCoy Collaborative Preservation Architecture, was honored with the Dorothy Savage Award at this year’s Preservation Achievement Awards. With nearly 35 years of experience in historic preservation, Nancy’s work in Dallas was specifically noted including over thirty projects at Fair Park including the Esplanade Restoration, Caruth Homeplace, The Joule Hotel, Wilson Building, Kalita Humphreys Theater, and the Juanita J. Craft House. Her projects have received two National Trust Honor Awards, a GSA Design Award and many state and local awards. She has been recognized for preservation excellence with induction into the College of Fellows by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the Association of Preservation Technology International (APT). She is also a historic preservation Peer Reviewer for The General Services Administration’s Design Excellence program. The Dorothy Savage Award recognizes an individual’s significant and ongoing contributions to the preservation of Dallas’ neighborhoods and urban core. Each year the Dorothy Savage Award is presented in honor of the late Dorothy Savage, Dallas’ pioneer in historic preservation, who led the effort for the creation of the Swiss Avenue Historic District: the first historic district in the City of Dallas. The awards ceremony, presented by Preservation Dallas, was held on Wednesday, May 15th in the Carlisle Room at the Lone Star Gas Building.
