Dallas Park and Recreation Master Plan Update

As the historic preservation consultant for this update to the 2002 A Renaissance Plan for Dallas Park and Recreation in the 21st Century, the firm evaluated historic parks owned by the City of Dallas. A study of the pre-1943 parks, not included in the original master plan, was conducted. Each park was studied to understand its impact and importance to the community and how the site fit into the development of the City’s park system. Site visits were conducted to assess historic integrity by using information gathered through research, and to compare existing significant natural features, site furniture, and other historic elements. Based on this information, parks were then classified into levels to allow for prioritization of preservation and treatment efforts through future design and maintenance guidelines.
