Fort Worth Public Market Building
Fort Worth, Texas
A Historic Structures Report was prepared for this historic 1926 home of civil rights activist Juanita Craft by MCPA in 2017. The report outlined a plan for repairs and restoration as a house museum with a mission to continue Ms. Craft’s work in the community after an unfortunate pipe break incident caused damage to finishes. In 2020, the firm designed the restoration and rehabilitation of the house, with a renewed approach established by the Office of Cultural Affairs with an exhibit design team. A grant from the National Park Service and other privately raised funds provided the budget necessary to undertake the work. The home is a City of Dallas Landmark, a Registered Texas Historic Landmark and is part of the Wheatley Place National Register Historic District.
